Labour problems in West Bengal forces towards automation

Mr. Biswajit Chatterjee, the CEO of Kolkata-based Bela International, is a happy and satisfied customer of Grafica Flextronica. He is also a social thinker who has adopted his own CSR – 'each one employ one or two handicaps or orphans in order to help society'. He employs 11 people in his printing unit which produces neck labels and heat transfers.

Why leather business?

“After seeing the immense potential in the global market, and also being inspired by Mr Nikhil Contractor of the Print Dynamics (inks manufacturer), we decided to get into the leather business. We plan to produce leather bags, wallets and other leather accessories”, says Bela's CEO.

From manual to automation

The company switched over to automation with one semi automatic screen printing machine, along with a full-fledged pre-press set up (emulsion coating machine, IR dryer, stretching equipment, screen washing booth) – all from Grafica. “In fact, we were the first customer of Grafica in the eastern region,” says Mr. Biswajit with pride.

On Grafica

During my visit to their plant, I was quite impressed with their infrastructure to make such a machine and their professional thinking while dealing with customers. Above all, I came in contact with my dream screen printing guru (teacher) Mr. Bhargav Mistry. He guided and advised me in the right direction and changed my way of thinking which inspired me to take on the challenge of automation. The rest is history. Today, we are a happy Grafica customer”.
